Brunch Food United Kingdom

For any true millennial, brunch is a ritual – a necessity if you will, on any weekend, without which, really, is anyone’s Sunday even complete? The days of a good drunch (see : drunken brunch) are relatively passé now (of course, it’s still needed from time to time), and Sunday brunch has now become more an experiment in health, with Aussie-inspired brunches leading the movement.

London (and I say so from plenty of experience) has no shortage of outstanding brunch spots that can truly complete your Sunday. Here are ToV’s favourites :

Brown and Rosie (South Kensington – @brownandrosie)

The Where and Why : Less than a minute’s walk from South Kensington station, this is your perfect stop before a day at the V&A or a stroll through the park. One of my favourite parts about the menu is that they have a lovely buffet of innovative salads if you’re less in the brunch and more in the lunch mood. If the weather’s nice, grab a table outside for the perfect Instagram, and some lovely weekend people watching.

What We Ordered : Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast / House Baked Granola / Avocado & Heritage Tomatoes on Toast

Lantana Cafe (Fitzrovia – @lantanacafe)

The Where and Why : In a little cobblestoned side street, this classic Aussie-inspired brunch spot in the heart of London is an ideal gem away from the crowds. And the food is to-die-for so it’s a win-win really.

What We Ordered : Duck & Sweet Potato Hash / Corn Fritters & Poached Eggs / Banoffee Banana Bread

Boys ‘N’ Berry (Fulham – @boysnberrylondon)

The Where and Why : A gem in Fulham like no other! Truly Aussie with a little bicycle outside the place, there’s nothing like a Sunday stroll through West London that ends at this place.

What We Ordered : Baked Eggs With Spinach, Chorizo & Spicy Sauce / Homemade Pancakes

Daysroom Cafe (Notting Hill – @thedaysroomcafe)

The Where and Why : Deep in Notting Hill this place might seem like a bit of a trek, but oh-my-god is it worth it. If you live in the neighbourhood, I deeply envy you – a perfect local spot that’s still relatively undiscovered (shocking, I know). Make the trek. Your weekend CANNOT be deprived of this anymore.

What We Ordered : Acai Bowl / Sweet Potato & Kale Hash / Loaded Croissant

Timmy Green (Victoria – @daisygreencollection)

The Where and Why : Ok, now this is such a classic that if you live in London and still don’t know about, you’re doing something wrong. A franchise that has its restaurants scattered across London, it is your essentially millennial brunch spot that is impossible not to have as your go-to.

What We Ordered : Broccoli & Corn Fritters / Hot & Healthy Greens / Coconut Bread French Toast / Shakshouka

Malibu Kitchen, The Ned (The City – @thenedlondon)

The Where and Why : A new hotspot on the Eastside, the Ned can be whatever you want it to be for weekend brunch. Poké or acai bowls, it hits the spot whatever you’re in the mood for, and the lovely open-plan atmosphere never makes for a dull moment at this new go-to on my list.

What We Ordered : Acai Bowl / Ahi Tuna Poké / Open Faced Omelette

Truth Cafe (Hammersmith – @truth_cafe)

The Where and Why : Talk about an undiscovered gem. A cute little spot in Hammersmith that’s too easy to miss, check out this perfect place for some of the best, and most value-for-money brunch you could find in West London!

What We Ordered : Uncle Buck / Sweet Potato Waffles & Poached Eggs

Farm Girl Cafe (Notting Hill – @farmgirlcafe)

The Where and Why : A Notting Hill classic, and an instagrammer’s haven, check this little slice of paradise out – and be prepared to line up and wait. They don’t take reservations, and on any weekend you’re bound to be singing for your supper with at least a 20-30 minute wait. But hey, a classic’s a classic, so don’t miss it!

What We Ordered : Liquid Gold Latte / Oven Baked Eggs / Acai Bowl / Berry Pancakes

Brew Cafe (Clapham Junction – @brew_cafe)

The Where and Why : Multiple little spots in South London, this one-stop shop for quite literally everything brunch has got to be on your list! And their coffee is easily some of the best I’ve had on my many brunch adventures around London.

What We Ordered : Brew Brunch Bowl / Sweet Corn Fritters / Brew Melt / Avocado Chorizo & Persian Feta / Turkish Eggs

Lazy Hunter (Camden – @lazyhunternw1)

The Where and Why : One of my first forays into Camden, and it did not disappoint. The decor of the place is adorable, scattered with hunting gear and a wardrobe that wouldn’t be out of place in the English countryside. Step into this lovely spot – no crazy queues out the door – and enjoy the lovely backyard in the summer. An ideal brunch venue for the perfect Instagrams!

What We Ordered : Hunter’s Trap / Uncle Fisher’s Present
