Europe Getaway Switzerland Travel Your Sweet Tooth

‘Tis almost the season so of course, wherever in the world you are, it’s time for all the candy, stroopwaffels, mulled wine, churros, and every local Christmas delicacy you can find. This post will be one in a series hitting you for your guide to some of the world’s most beautiful Christmas markets and there’s no better place to start than a truly hidden gem in Switzerland, in a little town on the French side – Montreux Noël!

This tiny town on the French side of the country is a perfect gem, undiscovered just enough that it isn’t overflowing with tourists. Make your way to the beautiful Christmas markets right on the water’s edge teeming with some of the most delicious churros, candy, and hot beef stew perfect for the Swiss winter.

In true Swiss style, this market has little chalets spread out across the edge of Lake Geneva. Make your way first to the Village des Bûcherons, the market’s main food court with everything from churros to pizza to a lovely beef stew with rice… oh and don’t forget the burgers, they’re actually fantastic!

After a respectable amount of gorging, head on over to explore the Elves’ Village and the narrow streets of the market, ensconced on both sides by the chalets. Grab some candy, shop at one of the handmade souvenir chalets while sipping on mulled wine as you stroll through, and stop for raclette at Chalet Raclette Reitzel that will definitely have a line the length of the market (but it’s worth it!). If you’re feeling a drink and some fireplace perfection, hit up La Grange located smack dab in the middle of the market!

This market is a little treasure and one of Switzerland’s best! Explore the beautiful town of Montreux and Vevey while you’re there and load up on all the goodies at the market for a perfect weekend getaway.
